WEEK 4: IMAGE PROCESSING

Date: 27-31 March 2023 Content: During week 4, I attended an online FYP Workshop conducted via Microsoft Teams on thesis writing, the workshop was facilitated by Sir Shah Rizailli Mukhtar, who provided guidance on the format and structure of a thesis and proposal. The workshop focused on thesis writing for chapter 1 to 3, namely the Introduction, Literature Review, and Methodology.  Additionally, in week 4, I continued my learning on Image Processing. Through my learning, I explored essential topics, including colour mappings, which the techniques to blend and paste images. I also learned about the concept of image thresholding, it is about the segmentation of images based on pixel intensity values. I also explored about various techniques for blurring and smoothing images to reduce noise and enhance image quality. WEEK 3: IMAGE BASICS AND OPENCV

Date: 20 - 24 March 2023 Content: In week 3, I continued my learning on image basics with OpenCV, I learned about the basic image operations such as reading, displaying, and saving images using OpenCV. I also practiced working with basic shapes like lines, rectangles, and polygons in OpenCV. I also got to know more about the process of adding text to images using OpenCV, including specifying font types, size, and colours. I learned how to interactively draw shapes on images using mouse and learned event handling functions in OpenCV. Conclusion: In conclusion, in this week 3, I was dedicated to deepening my understanding of image basics with OpenCV. I learned how to perform essential operations on images, such as drawing shapes, adding text, and implementing interactive drawing functionalities using the mouse. WEEK 2: FYP WORKSHOP & COMPUTER VISION INTRODUCTION

Date: 13 - 17 March 2023 Content: On this week, I attended a FYP Workshop held at TTL2 Hall on UniKL BMI Campus. The workshop focused on providing guidance and clarification on the requirements, expectations, and deliverables of Final Year Project (FYP). The workshop also briefed on the different types of assessment for the FYP and their respective marks weightage. It also stated about the FYP rules and regulations, including guidelines for documentation, submission deadlines, and ethical considerations.  In this week also, I acquired fundamental knowledge about the introduction to computer vision (CV) on image basics and its application, I explored the concept of Numpy and its usage for working with arrays in Python. I also learned how to manipulate and process images using Numpy arrays and developed an understanding of the relationship between images and Numpy arrays and their importance in CV tasks. WEEK 1: CONTINUE TO WORK ON FINAL YEAR PROJECT

Date: 6 - 10 March 2023 Content: In this week, my supervisor Dr Mohd Zaki Bin Ayob and I have met to discuss about the progress of my Final Year Project (FYP), we discussed about the potential titles for my FYP and explored different ideas to narrow down the focus, we also reviewed about the current status of my project and shared updates with my supervisor. We also outlined the new objectives and deliverables for the FYP and clarified the expectations. We also agreed to change the nature of my FYP to an Industrial Final Year Project (IFYP). Conclusion: Overall, this week's meeting with my supervisor was productive and resulted in important changes to my FYP, transforming it into an industrial-focused project. We will collaborate with FRI or Fisheries Research Institute branch Glami Lemi at Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. I am excited about the new direction and look forward to this IFYP.
